Our Story

My name is Amber;

I am the main driver behind Daisy Acres Flowers. I have a degree in Biology and a background in plant research and teaching. After spending my college and early adult years growing plants destined to be tortured, crushed up, analyzed, and finally autoclaved, I was eager to use my seed starting skills and get back to my barefoot-in-the-woods roots.

I first learned about flower farming while I was tucked away in a one bedroom apartment 40 miles east of San Diego waiting for my oldest daughter to be born. I only had enough space to grow a cactus on my balcony, but I read every article I could find about it.

At the end of 2018, my husband and I left California and bought an old house and just over an acre in Washington County, New York. I pulled up an online seed catalog in our freshly unpacked house and made him help me select varieties for my very first garden on our property. Somewhere from there, Daisy Acres Flowers was born.

We sold our first flower arrangements in 2021, and set up at a farmer's market in 2022, but in a way all of this has been in the works since high school Amber (hoping to avoid a boring summer job) tried to start a farm stand from scratch at my childhood home in Vermont.

Today I am proud to be able to call this "lets grow flowers" idea a functioning micro farm. I am proud to be able to do this work with my parents, my husband, and my children. Follow along with us to see what comes next!
